Kinky Boots
Audition Info
Kinky Boots is the winner of every major Best Musical award, including the Tony, the Grammy and London’s Olivier Award. Based on true events, this huge-hearted hit tells the story of two people with nothing in common—or so they think! Charlie is a factory owner struggling to save his family business. Lola is a fabulous entertainer with a wildly exciting idea. With a little compassion and a lot of understanding, this unexpected pair learns to embrace their differences and creates a line of sturdy stilettos unlike any the world has ever seen! But in the end, their most sensational achievement is their friendship. Featuring 16 original songs by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, Kinky Boots shows us you can change the world when you change your mind.

Casting Breakdown
Lola/Simon
A prize fighter draped in satin. He is a heterosexual cross dresser…eccentric, lavish and outspoken. An emotionally and physically challenging role that requires the body of a boxer with the soul of a Diva. Must have star presence and feel comfortable wearing everything from full drag performer to nothing but boxing trunks. Must have a killer voice with power blues and gospel chops. Written for a non-Caucasian (generally African heritage) male. (high tenor… Sings C3–B4 with one top C) Must move extremely well in high-heals, wigs and women’s clothing.
Charlie Price
A confused young man who inherits his father’s shoe factory. He’s unfocused and misguided but is a hero under a victim’s mantle. He is handsome and loveable but there is a temper right under the skin. High tenor rock belt. Sings C3–B4
Young Charlie
A joyous young chap…the younger version of our main character. He is lost, quiet and unsure. He appears in the opening and closing sequences of the show. Must be able to sing.
