The heart of Mountainfilm beats for adventure and celebrates the indomitable human spirit. Scope it, shred it, send it and tell it — these films tell the story of hard-chargers. This collection of short films tells stories of those who did not give up, back down or let their challenges define them.

*Please note if you plan to purchase both playlists (Adventure and The Medley), Mountainfilm’s ticketing system only allows one purchase at a time. After purchasing one playlist, you must go back and purchase the second.

The Adventure playlist features 12 epic shorts, that include:

A Prayer for Joshua Jackson

What do you do when the dream you’ve spent your entire life working toward is taken away in a moment? It’s a challenge race car driver Joshua Jackson must navigate, after his promising career comes to a screeching halt.

A Surfer's
Search

You can take the classic “nerdy skinny kid” out of Newport Beach and move him to Wisconsin, where he’ll grow up and have children, and he will still find a way to surf – on Lake Superior, in winter, at the age of 60.

Myrtle Simpson: A Life on Ice

As she approaches 90 years old, Simpson vividly recounts her adventures on the ice and finally receives the Polar Medal from Queen Elizabeth 50 years after she became the first woman to cross Greenland’s polar ice cap.

Stoke
Chasers

With a filter that is oh-so-California, this film — which was shot on Kodak film — celebrates young women athletes breaking into sports long dominated by men. They are skateboarders, surfers and longboarders. “Headstrong is a word reserved for girls who break the mold,” one says. “And the mold is to play it safe.”

The Medley playlist features a mix of epic shorts and longer features, that include:

Golden

Once Caitlin Davis discovered the mountainous West, she knew she’d found home. After a childhood spent dreaming of working with animals and their environments, the raptor biologist now spends her days in Idaho’s sagebrush country studying how human impact affects golden eagles.

Here We Stand

In 2018, Save the Redwoods League purchased a magical 700-acre stand of old-growth redwoods in Sonoma County. Conservation has long been about keeping people out of places, but with help from communities of color, the organization is reimagining its role in a diverse, inclusive California.

This Land

Runner Faith Briggs represents the new school of conservationist. No longer worshipping at the feet of Henry David Thoreau, conservationists today include women, people of color and indigenous communities — those whose love for public lands, diverse voices and journeys of empowerment fuel bold feats of activism.

Return To Earth

Rubber meets the red Utah dirt when Brett Rheeder throws down with his signature style — combining technical tricks and zesty big-mountain lines. By all accounts he is at the top of his game, earning first place at the infamous Red Bull Rampage in 2018 and runner-up in 2019.
