About The Program
Come explore the outdoors with creative eyes! Focused on the intersections of art, science, and play, young explorers will use art as a means of inquiry into the natural world, where the artistic process mirrors the scientific method of questioning, experimenting, and evaluating. Take the time to see the beauty and creativity abounding in every aspect of our lives, through hands-on-making, creating, and exploring. You’ll meet professional artists and naturalists, and build connections with the wonders of our amazing world.
We’re turning the Outdoor Discovery Center’s outdoor classroom into a fun-filled laboratory! Join local artist and environmentalist Rachel Hefferan for a day of discovery and artful experiments with natural dyes. Cooking down plants like red cabbage and utilizing pH containers with vinegar & soda ash all make for an environmentally friendly natural dyeing workshop!
