Last Chance to Experience Summer Exhibitions

Throughout the year, we have been exploring what it means to be rooted – in the earth, to ourselves, our community, and to the world around us.

For the last few months, our gallery and corridor have been filled with works that helped us grow. Paloma Núñez-Regueiro and Sayde Anderson explore their own roots, how they weave together with ours, and the community as a whole.

These inspiring exhibitions are on display at the SCA through September 8.
In addition to visiting them at the SCA – take a piece of one-of-a-kind art work home with you. Both artists have works for sale available online or through purchase at the Box Office, works beginning at $150.

To Practice Taking Root by Paloma Núñez-Regueiro

To Practice Taking Root is a collection of works that shine a light on the struggles of minorities that are rooted in our communities. These works take four different forms – 2D, 3D, installation, and auditory. These works shed light on the isolation which stems as a consequence of being immigrants, BiPOC, LGBTQ+, or disabled people living in communities afflicted by Western capitalism, colonialism, and religion.

Connect to the land and the rich landscape that surrounds us by bringing a piece of Sayde’s work home. These sustainable works, each unique and inspired by nature, can inspire you daily to seek out the beauty all around you.

Of Plants and Place by Sayde Laine Anderson

Growing up in the foothills of Colorado, Sayde’s childhood was rooted in texture and natural color. From exploring the red and orange clay found on afternoon hikes to the native flower garden growing in her backyard, she learned to appreciate the biodiversity of plants and place from a young age. Her work is a playful experiment of those early explorations. With a deep love for the earth and natural materials, she works at the intersections of plant-based color, textiles, and environmentalism. Sayde’s evolving work in textiles and fibers seeks to create spaces to explore who we are as nurturers of the land and our communities.

Connect to the land and the rich landscape that surrounds us by bringing a piece of Sayde’s work home. These sustainable works, each unique and inspired by nature, can inspire you daily to seek out the beauty all around you.

Explore these works now through September 8:
Monday – Friday | 9:00 am – 6:30 pm
Saturday | 10:00 am – 6:30 pm
Sunday | 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

We believe that learning should never stop – that’s why we create hands-on programming for ages 3 – 103. In addition to visiting the gallery and corridor, you can explore a new skill with the artists themselves. There is one last opportunity to learn from Paloma at “Printmaking with Paloma” on September 8th. We’re proud to offer creative experiences for learners of all ages year round.
