About this Class
Splatter, spray, pour and play! Paint-a-Thon returns with a new name and two unique sessions for different age groups. Join us for two-days of joyful exploration with art’s most beloved medium. Featuring instruction from SCA’s 2024 Corridor Artist, Shannon Mack, campers will discover new ways to paint in playful and expressive ways. Explore different media and techniques using watercolor, tempera, and paint sticks–to name a few! From abstract paintings and collaborative creations, to splashy watercolors and repurposed mixed media collage, every art project promises a new opportunity to experiment with paint! A daily healthy snack is provided.

Shannon Mack
Shannon Mack is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She describes the origins of her work being derived from “of-the-moment” presence, in effect, leaving behind time capsules of the human experience. The layers that exist within her work are attempts to meet the moment with sincerity, each a foundation for the next, until a resolve is revealed. She is compelled by the time and labor invested in a “still” image, therefore making it an artifact in its own right; evidence of conscious and unconscious movements converging in a single tangible place.
