In Progress with... Paloma Núñez-Regueiro

Learn about artist Paloma Núñez-Regueiro and experiment with printmaking! Create a self- portrait that is inspired by your interests and future aspirations, while working with new materials and techniques. Learn how to create relief prints and combine them into a final mixed-media piece with different materials. Artwork created during this program will be displayed in the library, and the artist will be available to meet the students during this time.

At the conclusion of the program, on August 10, students will participate in a community celebration with Paloma, and display their artwork for the community!

Meet the Artist

I consider myself a printmaker and a maker of things. I also enjoy drawing, painting, mixed media, and fibers. I was born in Lima, Peru; my mother is Mexican and my father is Chinese-Peruvian. In 1983, when I was 9 years old, my parents decided to move to Mexico because of the guerrilla wars (Sendero Luminoso), and the social and economic instability Peru was going through. In Mexico I grew up in close proximity to my aunt, who was a stained glass artist. I attended art college in Mexico. A few years later in 2000, I earned my BFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a double major in painting and printmaking.
