About the artist
Grayson Nye is a Chicago-based pianist, composer, and educator known for his genre-spanning versatility and dynamic musical voice. With roots in jazz, classical, hip-hop, R&B, folk, Celtic, and beyond, his wide-ranging background informs a unique and expressive style.
Grayson earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University, where he became an integral part of the West Michigan music community. During this time, he performed with touring off-Broadway productions, collaborated with the Keith Hall Summer Drum Intensive and New York Voices Vocal Jazz Camp, composed for film and symphony orchestras, performed regularly at music festivals, and developed a strong reputation as a performer and composer.
Now based in Chicago, Grayson remains an in-demand sideman across the Midwest and performs regularly with the acclaimed Jordan Hamilton Trio. As an educator, he teaches private lessons and partners with the non-profit Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education (CAPE), working alongside Chicago Public School teachers to integrate arts into core academic curricula.
