Summer Camps Terms and Conditions

Camper Expectation Agreement

Any child attending an SCA program is expected to be kind, safe and respectful at all times. By registering for an SCA camp you acknowledge the following:

The SCA is committed to a safe educational environment for all of our campers and staff, free from harassment, intimidation or bullying. We focus on redirecting any inappropriate behavior, as well as using positive redirection to help encourage appropriate behavior. A very important part of our program is giving children the opportunity to learn how to get along in the world, enjoy being with other children, problem solve and follow the direction of an adult other than their parents. A caring and positive approach will be taken regarding behavior management and discipline.

The SCA has a zero-tolerance policy for hitting, fighting, bullying, verbal threats, destruction of property, and elopement (leaving their group) during our program. If these behaviors are exhibited the SCA Instructors will contact parents for immediate pick up depending on the severity of the incident.

Safety Requirements

Upon arrival at an SCA event, every guest/guardian (18+ yrs) must:

  • Present a photo ID.
  • Confirm name and contact information for the guardian in writing that will pick up the child at the end of the camp event.

Cell Phones

Campers are permitted to bring smart phones & smart devices, but they must be silenced and out of sight during programming to minimize distractions to allow not only your child, but all children, to participate distraction-free. If devices are seen out and in-use during programming, they will be confiscated by our staff and returned to the parents at pick-up. Please contact the SCA if your camper needs to be reached in an emergency.

Weather

Decisions about inclement weather and alternate plans will be made by 8 am on camp days. Parents will be notified of the change in case of rain, tornado watches, or air quality concerns for outdoor activities and trips. If at all possible, camp activities will move indoors. Please refer to reminder emails for specific camps for further details.

Allergies & Medications

If your child requires medication or an epi-pen, it must be left with the Lead Instructor or Education Programs Manager upon drop off, with your child’s name and instructions. If your child has allergies that may require treatment with an epi-pen, please leave an epi-pen with our staff.

Illness

If your child is ill, or has a fever, cough, or other signs of an active infection, do not send them to camp. Please notify our box office at 269-857-2399. If you are unable to reach the box office, please contact Meg Shoup, Education Programs Manager at mshoup@sc4a.org.
