Don't Take Our Word For it
"Thank you so much for everything. It’s been a crazy week trying to recover and recuperate after last weekend! Our daughter also started school Monday!
I just wanted to let you know you were so great to work with and your staff was amazing. The people you had on to help us were outstanding. So attentive and seriously helped us have the best day ever. Sydney was amazing!!!!!!!!! She offered to help us with anything and even asked if we needed help with our baby. She was SO nice. My aunt (who helped with set up) mentioned her to me as well and said how much help she was.
We have gotten SO many compliments on the wedding and how beautiful you guys keep the landscape/ garden."Wedding FAQs
Can I tour the venue before booking?
Absolutely. Come walk the spaces, see how they flow together, and picture what your wedding could look like here.
What months does SCA host weddings?
Most weddings take place on Saturdays from late May through October, with select dates available in April and on holiday weekends. Smaller indoor weddings are possible during the winter using the Theater and Lobby. Availability depends on SCA’s theater and event schedule.
Is SCA an LGBTQ+ friendly wedding venue?
As welcoming as it gets! All couples are welcome to celebrate their wedding at SCA.
How do I reserve my wedding date?
A signed rental agreement and 50% non-refundable deposit will reserve your date. The remaining balance is due 90 days before your wedding.
How far in advance should we book?
As soon as you find a date that works for you. You can book weddings well in advance or with as little as one month to plan, depending on availability.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes. The pavilion, garden, and restrooms are accessible, with accessible routes through the property and designated parking near the pavilion. Guests may also be dropped off close to the pavilion entrance.
Can we choose our own caterer?
We’ll provide a list of preferred caterers to choose from. You may also consider licensed caterers outside that list with prior approval and a $500 fee. Due to our liquor license, homemade or family-provided catering is not permitted.
How does bar service work?
We provide the bar (bartender/alcohol). Bar is based on consumption. You are only charged for what is consumed. Based on your selections, the bar hours, and the number of guests, we provide a quote. Once approved, a 75% deposit is due. After the event, we take inventory and either reimburse you or invoice you for the remaining balance. You are never charged more than what is quoted (unless you choose to add more to the bar). You may choose a hosted bar or cash bar.
What time does the reception end?
Wedding rentals typically run within a 12-hour window. Music and bar service must end by 11 p.m. We can also accommodate earlier celebrations, including brunch weddings.
Is a wedding rehearsal included?
A formal rehearsal is not included, but we’re happy to arrange a walk-through before your wedding when the space is available. This may be scheduled earlier in the week and around other SCA events.
Do we need to rent AV equipment?
Yes. DJs, bands, microphones, speakers, and other AV equipment are arranged separately. We can provide recommended vendors for music and AV.
Can we hold our ceremony somewhere nearby?
Yes. Coughlin Park is just across the street on the water and makes a beautiful ceremony setting before moving to SCA for the reception. Saugatuck and the surrounding area also offer churches and other ceremony locations nearby.
Are pets allowed?
Yes. Pets are welcome for the ceremony only and must remain leashed while on the property.
What’s the average wedding cost in Michigan? How does SCA compare?
Michigan weddings average around $28,000–$33,000, though budgets vary widely by guest count and location. Wedding venues alone typically run about $5,500–$7,800.
SCA wedding packages range from $5,000–$7,000 and include a distinctive indoor-outdoor setting, gardens, and an art gallery. With your choice of catering, bar service, and other vendors, you have extra flexibility to shape your celebration and budget.
