We’re gearing up for a busy summer at the SCA! Did you know that in addition to our professional theater productions and concerts, we have a robust education branch that works with young creatives?

We’re excited to tell you about one of our favorite programs and invite you to be a part of it!

For the last 22 years, our education team has built a dynamic, year round schedule of innovative arts-based programming for students. All of our programming – in schools, on the SCA Campus, or anywhere else around West Michigan – emphasizes social emotional learning, literacy, collaboration, and deeply meaningful transformative moments.

In March of 2023, we drove into a new chapter of SCA Education with the introduction of our new Art Truck, which we have lovingly named The WiP (aka – Work In Progress; aka – our “whip”, as the kids would say, the coolest car ever). Until then, our education team had traveled throughout West Michigan piling art supplies into cars, trailers, wagons, or anywhere we could squeeze it.

Having our own set of wheels has allowed us to expand and amplify our community outreach for students, families, and adults over the last year! We’re committed to making arts + creativity accessible for all. That means meeting people, literally, where they’re at. I’m asking for your help to keep us rolling down the road. We need to raise $10,000 to support WiP programming for the upcoming summer.

This summer, you’ll find The WiP at Jefferson Elementary Summer School (Holland), Fennville Summer School, Macatawa Water Festival (Outdoor Discovery Center), Latin Americans United for Progress Fiesta (Holland), and so much more!

Through these WiP events we can serve 500+ children and families who otherwise would not have access to our programming. But to make this happen, we need your help!

Our invitation: would you help make this programming possible with a gift? In fact, would you consider making a monthly donation to help sustain our programming for the road trip ahead?

  • $5/month provides nourishing snacks to the youth we serve helping to fuel their creativity

  • $10/month funds art making supplies like paints, pens, pastels, paper, seeds, chalk, and so much more

  • $20/month helps fill our gas tank for the week

  • $50/month buys an awning to shade students and instructors during hot days

  • $100/month staffs our events with professional educators

Whether you make a one-time gift or become a monthly sustaining donor, please know that your investment is impacting hundreds of children and families who otherwise would not have access to our proven educational programs.

Thank you for considering our invitation. We’re grateful to have you in the SCA Family, and look forward to hearing from you soon.
