About The Program
Join Michigan-based weaver, Rachel Hefferan, in an adult hand spinning workshop at the Outdoor Discovery Center. Nestled on the new Art Trail at the Outdoor Discovery Center, participants will learn how to ‘start’ a yarn with a drop spindle, how careful touch can influence the thickness of the yarn, and with practice that repetitive actions can help us clear or focus our minds. No prior experience needed. Participants will leave with their own drop spindle made by Hefferan and a batt of starter roving from the artists’ sheep. Icelandic wool, Jacobs wool, or a blend will be used in this workshop.
