About The Program
Express your voice through the art of printmaking! Printmaking has historically been a tool for communication, collaboration, and building community. Joined by local artist Trevor Grabill, campers will be introduced to the traditional practice of block printing with a contemporary eye. Through designing, carving, and printing linoleum blocks, young artists will have the opportunity to explore the connection between artistic practice and purpose.
Trevor Grabill
Trevor Grabill is a printmaker and owner of Flat Mountain Press based in Kalamazoo. Focused on repetition and pattern, Grabill’s prints respond to both the natural landscape and political landscape of Michigan. Trevor was raised in central Michigan and, after some time wandering around Minnesota and Wisconsin, has nested in Kalamazoo. He’s a gardener, a teacher, and, primarily, an illustrator, working most often in the media of drawing and printmaking, but also darkroom photography, ceramics, and zines. Trevor is inspired by the landscape of the Great Lakes and the upper midwest, by small towns, local legends, and oral histories.
