Pedal to Petals is in partnership with our friends at Velo Kids taking place at the SCA.

Velo Kids | Getting All Kids On Bikes | Michigan is dedicated to nurturing happy, healthy, and confident kids by encouraging active, outdoor lifestyles, imparting valuable biking skills, safety awareness, and a deep-seated sense of stewardship for the environment.

About The Program

In the morning with Velo Kids, you’ll explore local bike paths and discover places like Wick’s Park, Village Square Park, Mount Baldhead Park, Douglas Beach and more! Learn how to bike safely and bike smart around town and develop bike repair and maintenance skills. Learn and practice stewardship for our trails, parks and our community while you meet new friends, get active, and have fun in the great outdoors!

In the afternoon, SCA leads playful art making inspired by your wheels and outside fun! Decorate your ride and make art with bike-like materials. Work collaboratively to create artwork outdoors inspired by your morning trips! Visit Oval Beach with professional sandcastle artist, Bryan Obermeyer to build castles and play in the sand. Enjoy two days full of creativity and adventure. A healthy afternoon snack is provided by the SCA.

Pick-up and drop-off is at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts. Campers must bring their own bicycles to attend. Bike trips are weather permitting. Campers must bring their own morning snack, sack lunch, helmet and gear, water bottle, and come wearing close-toed shoes. Campers must be able to ride 3-5 miles comfortably and be independent on two wheels (no training wheels). Camper bikes must be functioning with brakes that work and possibly gears.
