Back by popular demand, A Bright Night is a FREE celebration closing out the summer season. We’re kicking off the Halloween weekend with an all-ages party featuring exhibition artist Michael Belmore. Rooted in our local landscape, this festive evening is inspired by the beauty of nature, the joy in community, and the creativity that can be found all around us. Stationed throughout the entire SCA campus, guests can partake in charming activities and special moments while enjoying a mix of specially curated music on the headphones provided for our silent disco. Flip your headphones between popular music, jamgrass hits, and relaxing acoustic.

What’s a silent disco?
If you didn’t join us for A Bright Night last year, you may not be familiar with this kind of party. A silent disco, also known as a headphone party, is an innovative and unique form of entertainment where you listen to music through wireless headphones instead of traditional speakers. This provides a different, and completely immersive experience. Take your headphones off and you’ll be in a relatively quiet atmosphere, put them on and you’ll be transported into a world of music, rhythm, and of course – art.

With all the art, dancing, and music – you’ll need to fuel up. You’ll find great options to fuel up your body and soul at A Bright Night including a full cash bar, food trucks, snacks by Creative Fellow Chef Mindy Trafman, and more!

Save the date in your calendar, we can’t wait to see you there!

The Party

The Exhibition

As an artist, Michael Belmore has always endeavored to be fluid and responsive to place. Ningaaseg searches for the wind, for the feel of how water moves around the reeds knee-deep on the shore of a slow-moving river. Michael’s work is focused on the Great Lakes environment, land, water, and what it is to be Anishinaabe. These liminal sites are spiritually active places. Shorelines that mark the threshold between opposing elements of water, earth, and sky are similar to the liminal states of beings, such as in the dream between sleep and awake. In the Anishinaabe worldview, the universe is understood to be composed of layers.
