Theater at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts will be auditioning for all roles in Into The Woods and Once in Saugatuck, MI at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts’ 400 Culver Street Saugatuck, MI 49453.

January 24th, 2026

9am-5pm: Auditions and same-day callbacks

3pm: Free Meal and Q&A with Artistic Director Kurt Stamm

If you choose to spend the day with us, there will be a meal provided as well as an industry workshop on auditioning, navigating the industry and best practices for working in a professional environment. RSVP to Free Meal (3pm – 5pm) and Q&A within the audition sign up form.

While we would love to see the work of every actor who is interested in working with us, we are only able to audition those actors who are able to audition for us IN-PERSON at our Chicago EPAs, Saugatuck Local and New York City auditions at this time. NOTE: All actors for Come From Away must be proficient in the Gander dialect. All ethnicities are encouraged to submit for both shows. Please note that some characters are of a specific ethnicity.

Baker

(30s-40s) A warm-hearted, anxious, good man who deeply wants to be a parent. Earnest, flawed, and well-meaning. Must have strong comedic timing and emotional depth. Baritone (A2-G4)

Baker's Wife

(30s-40s) A smart, grounded, and resourceful woman who want a child. She longs for more than her current life offers, but is not exactly sure what that is. Complex arc balancing humor, determination, and vulnerability. Excellent singer-actor. Mezzo-Soprano with belt (F3-G5)

The Witch

(30s-50s) A commanding, sarcastic, unpredictable, funny, and powerful woman. The obsessive protector of Rapunzel, she is straight forward and aggressive. On the surface, she is self-serving and charismatic. Inwardly, she is insecure and lonely. Requires strong acting and comedy skills, strong mix/belt, and the ability to shift from grotesque to beautiful. Mezzo-Soprano with high belt (F3-G5…can extend up to C6)

Cinderella

(20s-30s) A kind, earnest, conflicted, and strong-willed woman with a warm gentleness who is consistently mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. Requires lyrical soprano work, excellent storytelling through song, and great comedic skills. Soprano (G3-G5)

Jack

(late teens-20s) An endearing, naïve, enthusiastic, and impulsive boy. Must be capable of sincere emotional connection, but who is also misled by his lack of knowledge. Tenor (A2-G4)

Little Red Riding Hood

(late teens-20’s played young) A feisty, mischievous, bold, and surprisingly tough little girl. Strong-willed, quick witted and fearless. A comedic role requiring excellent timing and vocal articulation. Mezzo-Soprano with belt (B3-F5)

Cinderella’s Prince | Wolf

(20s-40s) Prince: A vain, dramatic, handsome, and comically overconfident man. He’s the hero in his own life and was raised to be charming, not sincere. Must play exaggerated confidence and humor with ease. Wolf: Playfully predatory, seductive and humorous. Must embody the ‘tempting unknown.’ Baritone (B2-F4)

Rapunzel’s Prince

(20s-40s) A handsome, goofy, earnest, and competitive young man. Loves to spar and challenge his brother. Requires strong comedic sensibility. Bariton (C#3-F4)

Rapunzel

(20s-30s) An innocent, sheltered, and emotional woman, prone to fits of hysteria as the show progresses. Legit Soprano (B3-A5)

The Narrator | Mysterious Man

(40’s-60s) Narrator: Wry and commanding presence at the story teller/outside observer. Mysterious Man: Broken, anxious and secretive. Trying to right a wrong. Emotionally resonant. Character Baritone (G2-E4)

The Steward | Cinderella’s Father

(40’s-50s) Steward: Bossy, rule-bound, somewhat cowardly. Comedic energy with a sharp edge. Cinderella’s Father: Detached, timid, and henpecked. Minimal vocal work. Baritone

Jack’s Mother

(40s-50s) She is a long-suffering, practical woman.  Loving of her son, but frustrated by his naivety. Mezzo Soprano (Bb3-Db5)

Cinderella’s Stepmother

(30s-50s) A snobbish and cruel woman, only looking out for her own agenda, even at the expense of her own daughters. Mezzo-Soprano (A3-F#5)

Florinda & Lucinda (Stepsisters) | Snow White & Sleeping Beauty

(20s-30s) Stepsisters: Over-the-top, vain, bratty and humorous women. Must sing and move well. Snow White & Sleeping Beauty: Shy, innocent and demure. Comic cameos. Mezzo-Soprano/Soprano (C4-F#5)

Granny | Giant’s Voice | Cinderella’s Mother

(30s-50s) Granny is tough and comedic; the Giant’s voice is extremely animated and will be altered live, powerful and intimidating. Cinderella’s mother appears in a tree and must sing very extremely well. Soprano

Girl

(M20s-L30s) Direct, intelligent, no nonsense and witty. Has had to work hard at life but doesn’t think she deserves any sympathy. Must play the piano and sing. Must have a strong Czech (Eastern European) accent.

Guy

(M20’s-L30’s) A struggling Irish musician. Lost and a bit sad, but extremely appealing. Works with his Da in a vacuum repair shop. Must have a tenor range and play guitar. Must have a strong Irish accent.

Billy

(M30s – 40’s) A large Irish man. Owner of the music store where GIRL plays piano. Loud, funny and protective of GIRL. Must sing and play guitar. Must have a strong Irish accent.

Reza

(L20s-L30s) A sexy, funny, smart Czech girl. Often a bit larger than life. Must sing and play violin. Soprano with strong mix required. Must have a strong Czech (Eastern European) accent.

BARUSKA

(50s and up). Mother of GIRL. A cool but caring Czech mother who likes a full house and full stomachs. Not many inhibitions. Must sing and play the accordion. Must have a strong Czech (Eastern European) accent.

Bank Manager

(30s/40s) Male. Seems quite prim and proper but has a secret passion for music. Must sing and play guitar and cello. Must have a strong Irish accent.

DA

(50’s and up) GUY’S dad. A man of few words, but a lovely and caring father. Must sing and play guitar and mandolin. Must have a strong Irish accent.

SVEC

(20’s/30’s) A real odd ball. Loves television and coffee. Must play guitar and drum kit extremely well. Must have a strong Czech (Eastern European) accent. (Additional instrumental skills a plus.)

ANDREJ

(20’s/30s) Earnest and kind. An employee at a fast-food chain but has big dreams. Must play guitar, and bass. Violin/viola highly preferred (but not required.) Must have a strong Czech (Eastern European) accent.

EAMON

(30s/40s) The music studio manager where GUY and GIRL record their album. A tough nut to crack but eventually gives into the musician’s talents. Must sing and play guitar and piano. Must have a strong Irish accent. (Additional instrumental skills a plus.)

EMCEE

(L20’s-30’s) The emcee at a bar. A good-natured ball buster. Must sing and play guitar. Must have a strong Irish accent. (Additional instrumental skills a plus.)

EX-GIRLFRIEND

(20’s/30s) GUY’S ex-girlfriend who now lives in New York. Kind, lovely and likeable. Must sing and play violin. Must have a strong Irish accent. (Piano skills a plus.)

IVANKA

Mezzo-Soprano. (8-10) Ivanka is the sweet natured daughter of GIRL. Should be comfortable on stage and have the ability to sing and hold a violin.
