Adventure and art collide on the big screen and beyond at the annual Art Out Loud Community Festival featuring Mountainfilm on Tour at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts on March 24 + 25.

Take a deep dive into cultures, stories, and traditions from around the globe through film, music, food, and more. Art Out Loud is the intersection of visual, audio, and performance art – an immersive experience that engages all senses and highlights the impact of artful collaboration.

Community Film Festival | Saturday

A full day of creativity is on the horizon on Saturday, March 25 with award-winning short documentaries provided by Mountainfilm on Tour out of Telluride, CO.

Plus, explore unique flavors inspired by films with SCA Creative Fellow + Chef Mindy Trafman, celebrate your story through journaling with SCA Exhibition Artist Ruth Crowe, and enjoy the Art Coast journey with other community partners in Saugatuck, Douglas, Fennville, and Holland.

In addition to the screenings, Art Out Loud ticket holders will enjoy extra artful experiences, including special tours of The Journal Project, the spring Exhibition by Saugatuck/Douglas based artist Ruth Crowe. Mingle with Ruth and hear about her creative inspiration. Experience delicious small bites from the 2023 SCA Creative Fellow Mindy Trafman (included in All Access Pass and Playlist 3 tickets) plus drinks from the cash bar. Rufus Ferguson & Friends set the evening’s tone with live jazz.

Community Film Festival | Friday

Find inspiration and all-ages fun on Friday for the kick off of Art Out Loud at the Saugatuck Dunes State Park from 6:00 – 8:30 pm. Beginning at the State Park parking lot, stroll down Beach Trail for a lantern-lit family-friendly hike. Grab a coffee or hot chocolate to fuel up for the adventure, then join the SCA at its new Mobile Art Truck for a make-and-take project crafting a paper lantern! This event is FREE and open to the public.

Children's Film Festival | March 13 - 30

Every ticket for the Art Out Loud Community Festival helps fund the SCA’s 21st year of FREE programming at local schools with the Children’s Film Festival. K-12 students travel around the world through the power of film – learning all about cultures, traditions, stories, and spirits. This year, virtual, on-site, and off-site programming is available. In 2022, 3,962 students participated at the SCA and via digital screenings.

Film for Families | March 18
