SCA Board of Directors

Chair Michael Van Meter is Managing Partner of Van Meter Associates, a Chicago-based investment advisory offering individual portfolio management services to individuals and small to mid-market institutional clients.  Mike lives in Saugatuck. He is an active member of the Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society.
 
Vice Chair Richard Heriford is President of Landscape Forms the Global Premium Brand of Site Furniture, Lighting and Accessories. Landscape Forms recently won the Wall Street Journal Award for Best Small Company. Richard lives in Saugauck and is on the board of the Landscape Design Foundation of America.
 
Secretary Janice Varney is recently retired as the first Executive Dean of Lake Michigan College in South Haven.  Prior to that position she served as Lake Michigan College’s Dean of Student Services for over 6 years.  Janice lives in South Haven and is actively involved with the South Haven Maritime Museum and the South Haven Chamber of Commerce.
 
Treasurer Patsy Ramsey is a recently retired accountant who spent her career in Arkansas, Texas and Michigan with The Dow Chemical Company.  Before retiring and relocating to Saugatuck in late 2013, she served as Director of External and Corporate Reporting for Dow, and was a member of Financial Executives International.  Patsy lives in Douglas and is a member of the Douglas DDA.
 
Chair Emeritus Tom Farrington is Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Perrigo Company. Tom lives in Douglas; he is also involved as a volunteer board member with Children’s Food Basket (Holland, MI) and the American Lung Association.
 
Mary Kay Baker is recently retired as Executive Director of Family Promise of Grand Rapids, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families and individuals in a housing crisis. She lives in Fennville and is also a volunteer for the Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society.
 
Bud Baty is a Kendall College of Art and Design graduate and Interior Designer. Originally based out of Grand Rapids, he now splits his time between Douglas and South Florida. Bud is an active volunteer with Christian Neighbors.
 
Monty Collins is an Interior Designer whose commissions run the gamut from country houses to city apartments. Past projects include the decoration of homes in Seattle, San Francisco, New York, Naples FL, Palm Springs and Amsterdam. Monty splits time between Saugatuck and Palm Springs.
 
Patrick Coyle holds a Bachelor of Music (Furman University), Master of Music (Converse College), Master of Sacred Music (Emory University), and a Doctor of Musical Arts (Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music). He currently serves as the Chorus Master for Opera Grand Rapids, as well as the Director of Music for Park Congregational Church in Grand Rapids. He lives in Saugatuck and volunteers for the Saugatuck Chamber Music Festival.
 
Dan Fox is recently retired as Vice President from the Chicago advertising firm Foote, Cone & Belding. He lives in Saugatuck.
 
Deb Minton is President and Founder of Philanthropia Partners, a consulting firm that works with nonprofits, their leaders, philanthropists and entrepreneurs.  She splits time between Grand Rapids and Saugatuck. Deb is on the Western Council board of Inforum, Power of 100 Women - Michigan Women's Foundation, and Past President of Association of Fundraising Professionals West MI Chapter.
 
Jason Passata is the Development Director for Career and Technical Education within the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District (OAISD), which serves 55,000 students. He developed and champions the FuturePREP Program, an initiative that connects education, business, and the community to provide relevant learning options for both educators and students. Jason lives in Holland and is on the Holland School Board.
 
Tim Straker is Vice President - North America Marketing/Global Customer Experience at Herman Miller.  Tim has honed his gift for orchestrating elegant, purposeful customer engagements during 25 years in brand, product, and experience design for clients including Food Network, Lowe’s, Apple, and Adobe Systems. During this time, he held design leadership roles in organizations across a broad range of industries, including retail, technology, higher education, healthcare, finance, and direct sales. He lives in Saugatuck.
 
Connie Thacker is an attorney at Miller Johnson specializing in family law, alternative dispute resolution, and business and corporate law. She is recognized as a Best Lawyer in America® for family law. She is a fellow in the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers as well as the Michigan State Bar Foundation. Ms. Thacker recently chaired the Family Law Council of the State Bar of Michigan and is the current chair of the Grand Rapids Bar Association Family Law Council.  Connie lives in Douglas.
